High school diploma or GED (preferred but not always required)

CPR/First Aid certification (may be required by some employers)

Must pass a background check 

Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable access to an insured vehicle or dependable transportation to fulfill job responsibilities.

Strong communication skills

Patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others

Ability to follow care plans and instructions

Understanding of basic nutrition and hygiene

Physical stamina (as the job may include lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods)
